Service Overview

Accurate Positioning and Structured Spatial Information

GNSS, Total Station and GIS technologies are used to capture, measure and organise spatial information for engineering, infrastructure, asset-management and scientific projects.

GNSS provides geographic positioning, while Total Station surveys support detailed local measurement, elevation and engineering layouts. GIS allows the collected information to be stored, analysed and presented within a structured digital database.

GGWPI undertakes standalone surveys as well as integrated assignments where field observations, asset locations, topography, photographs and descriptive information are combined into maps and GIS layers.

Survey Capabilities

Integrated Geospatial Services

The survey methodology and equipment are selected according to the required accuracy, area, terrain, coordinate system and intended use of the final data.

01

GNSS and DGPS Survey

Geographic positioning, control-point establishment, asset capture and field-data collection using suitable GNSS observation methods.

02

Total Station Survey

Detailed measurement of horizontal positions, elevations, site features and engineering survey points.

03

Topographic and Contour Mapping

Collection and processing of elevation and surface-feature data for topographic plans and contour preparation.

04

GIS Database Development

Organisation of spatial and attribute information into structured digital layers for analysis and asset management.

Applications

Where GNSS, Total Station and GIS Are Used

These technologies can support planning, design, construction, asset inventory, monitoring and long-term infrastructure management.

Topographic Surveys Detailed measurement of terrain, elevations, structures, roads and visible site features.
Pipeline and Utility Mapping Mapping of pipelines, valves, pump houses, borewells and consumer connections.
Infrastructure Asset Mapping Geographic inventory of roads, buildings, utilities and public infrastructure assets.
Control and Reference Points Establishment and observation of project-control points for engineering and scientific surveys.
Contour and Surface Modelling Preparation of contour maps, terrain models and elevation-based project information.
Scientific Field Data Collection Coordinate-based observations and location verification for research and institutional projects.

Survey Workflow

From Project Scope to Final Spatial Deliverables

01

Requirement Review

Survey area, required accuracy, coordinate system, deliverables and site conditions are reviewed.

02

Survey Planning

Control requirements, equipment, observation method, point density and field workflow are defined.

03

Field Data Collection

Coordinates, elevations, features, asset information and supporting observations are recorded.

04

Processing and Quality Review

Field records are checked, processed and organised according to the required reference system.

05

Mapping and Delivery

Final maps, coordinate files, drawings and GIS layers are prepared for the client.

GIS Asset Mapping

Converting Field Observations into a Usable Asset Database

A GIS database can combine asset location, condition, photographs, technical information and project records within a single structured system.

Spatial Location Geographic or project coordinates for each surveyed asset.
Asset Attributes Type, size, status, material, condition and other relevant descriptive information.
Photographic Records Field photographs linked with mapped assets for identification and verification.
Network Connectivity Mapping of connected infrastructure such as pipelines, valves, pump houses and service routes.
Maintenance Support Structured information for repair planning, asset inspection and future expansion.
Map and Database Outputs GIS layers, map layouts, coordinate tables and project-specific databases.

Typical Deliverables

What the Client May Receive

The final deliverables depend on the type of survey, accuracy requirement, coordinate system, area covered and software format requested.

  • Coordinate and elevation tables
  • GNSS or DGPS observation records
  • Topographic survey plan
  • Contour map and terrain information
  • CAD drawing or base map
  • KML or KMZ files
  • GIS shapefiles or spatial database
  • Asset inventory and field photographs

Important Note on Survey Accuracy

Survey accuracy depends on the selected equipment, observation method, satellite visibility, control quality, terrain, obstructions, atmospheric conditions, field procedure and post-processing. The required accuracy and coordinate reference system should therefore be agreed before fieldwork. Handheld GNSS data should not be represented as survey-grade positioning where higher engineering accuracy is required.
